2012 Isle of Man Boys Championships **note - date changed**
The Isle of Man Junior Championships will be held at Peel on Sunday 15th July (postponed from 8th) - the Isle of Man Golf Union have supplied the following information:
The format has changed this year with the under 18 Championship being a medal played over 36 holes while the under 14 Championship will be a stableford played over 18 holes. Both competitions will be played on the same date.
Participants will only be able to play in either the under 18 or the under 14 championship.
The Trustrum cup, for the best under 16, will be played in conjunction with the under 18 championship & will be the best medal score over 36 holes.
Entry forms are available on the junior section of the Isle of Man Golf Union website: http://www.isleofmangolf.im/page94.html
Clubnight next Tuesday (12 June) will be our annual charity night.
The competition is one of the longest running in the junior section, the John Perry Trophy. It will be a stableford for all sections (white tees for platinum/gold boys).
After the golf, we would like to hold a bring and buy sale. The idea here is to give everyone an opportunity to bring along any golf equipment, clothing etc that may no longer fit or be of use to them......this can then be offered, for a small charge, to other juniors.
Proceeds from the night, including the bring and buy sale, will be donated to Breakthrough Breast Cancer - a great cause and one that one of our committee, Glenn Saunders, recently walked the full length of the TT course for as part of his separate fund raising effort. Here is a link for further information:
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Tuesday.
The Junior Vimto/Britvic league starts Sunday 10 June at Rowany. Our team will be:
Anthony Young (Captain), Owen Dawson, Rob Kelly, Ana Dawson & Harry Daniels
Link to further details & fixtures: http://www.isleofmangolf.im/page94.html
Please check your cards thoroughly before signing and handing them in.
It is your responsibility for your score. Signing for an incorrect score may result in you missing out on a prize or even being disqualified. We have had a couple of cases in the last few weeks of people signing for the wrong scores.
Farewell Martin !!!!
After 9 years and countless hours of his own time donated to the club and to PGC Juniors, Martin Ellis decided to stand down from his post as Junior organiser this year. After a whipround from the club and all but a few of the members signing his retirement card, Martin was presented with a few gifts from past junior Captains last night as a mark of everyones appreciation of his time and dedication to our club. Martin was very gracious (and surprsingly quick !!!) in his farewell speech thanking all those who have helped him in the past but notably the juniors he has helped throughout his term in office. Enjoy your retirement Martin !!
